Kick It Up peeks

These are some little peeks at what I created over Thanksgiving break for my book with Greta Hammond called Kick It Up :D

Merry Christmas!

Yes, I know it was 3 days ago :) But, my tree is still up, I was eating leftovers yesterday, and my girls are still enjoying their gifts, so it's still Christmas to me. I hope your Christmas was filled with love and family and friends, and that the Lord richly blesses you in the coming year!

On the book front, Playing With Paper debuts early next year - early February, I think. They sent me the cover art to share. I have to say that I was really happy with the artwork in this book, both my own and my contributors, and I can't wait to see the completed book! I hope you'll check it out :D

Getting in the mood

It's been a few months since I worked on book #2 for Memory Makers (titled Kick It Up). I've been printing photos today in anticipation of a scrappy marathon here at the Wigginton household. I have the week off from teaching school, and I'm going to spend a lot of the week scrapping for the book. This photo is a little peekie of some layouts I did for book #2 earlier in the fall. And, if you search Amazon.com for my name, you'll see my first book listed there - due out in February! That cover is an earlier version. I'll post the newer cover here soon.

Looking forward to Friday

Posting something good for a friend!

crowdSPRING, hire Kelly Purkey for your new Community Marketing Manager!

And, hoping you guys send me some scrappy vibes for next week as I need to crank out some layouts for my book :D One more day of school, and I can sleep late for 10 DAYS! lol

Life out there

Wondering where I've been? I feel as if I've been in my own little world - working and struggling to keep up with all my new duties as a middle school/high school math teacher. On November 2nd, I accepted a position at a local school (until the Christmas holidays). Going back to work full time has been quite a shock to this stay at home momma of 12 years, lol. Did I mention I've never taught school before?! I was a Computer Analyst BK (before kids). And jumping into a school system and preparing for 3 different classes in the middle of the term has it's special challenges. Just so much to learn. I'm teaching one high school Geometry class, three Pre-Algebra (8th grade) classes, and one 7th grade math class. Things have been going good, but I'm working long hours, and I want to be a GREAT teacher for these kids. They need firm, fair, encouraging, and motivating examples...and a little math thrown in ;)

Scrapbooking? What's that?! lol I'm also in the midst of online course work to qualify for my teaching license, and I also have deadlines for book #2 (with Greta Hammond). I'm planning to scrap like crazy next week, and all thru Christmas holidays to meet my book deadlines. What do they say on "Jon & Kate" (which my kids LOVE, LOVE, LOVE and watch all the time) "It's a crazy life, but it's my life."

Hope your Halloween was a happy one!

We actually celebrated on Thursday night, as mandated by our town. Our church does "Trunk or Treat", and we enjoy it because we get to see so many of the town children in all manner of costumes. Olivia was a witch again this year, minus the purple wig, and Michaela was dressed up for a slumber party :)

I want to give a big shout out to all the wonderful ladies who attended the Lasting Memories retreat last weekend, and to Julie and Barb!! We had a great weekend full of laughter and lots of scrappy stuff too. I arrived home after midnight on Sunday night, and needed to be at school by 7:30 for a week of observing teachers do what they do best - teach (and all that goes along with it)! It's official. I begin teaching Monday morning, and I'll admit to being very nervous. So much to do this weekend in preparation. I'll be monitoring an online Calculus class (until Christmas), and teaching Geometry, Pre-Algebra, and 7th grade Math. It might be Thanksgiving before I surface again! lol Have a happy November, friends!

Are you ready to party?!

Okay, Lasting Memories gals, I'm headed your way bright and early in the morning. I know you must be so excited about cropping the weekend away in Danbury! I'm in the midst of that last minute panic! "did I do this?" "will I have time to do that?" "what am I forgetting?" "what if it doesn't fit in my luggage?!" lol I'll be seeing you soon (and here's another peek at some projects I'll be teaching). If there is anyone interested in kits, I would contact Julie at Lasting Memories ASAP (914-219-5448). These kits are very limited. Back to packing!!

Cannot be possible

25 years?! I know it's true, but I'm finding it hard to believe. Guess the rest of these folks are feeling about the same :) Rich and I attended my 25th high school reunion, and they asked us to take a group photo. I thought everyone looked AWESOME, and I was glad to have the chance to see them again.

Lasting Memories Retreat

Will I see any of you there? I hope so! These are the ads for the 5 new classes I'll be teaching there. If you have any questions about kit contents or what sort of photos will work (although they aren't needed for class), just send me an email at momtwoangels@yahoo.com. As I said before, these are very limited, and I won't be able to create additional kits. My teacher education class begins this weekend, and along with kitting for the retreat, I must get to work on meeting my final deadlines for book #2.
Thank you!

Whooooo's Afraid?

Not me. Who could be afraid of this cute little guy?! This is part of the cover of my 6X8 mini album for the "Whooooo's Afraid" Mini Album class. This album is designed for Halloween or Fall photos. Either adult or kid Halloween, or any Fall holiday will work well with the design and the included rubons make it easy to customize for your particular photos. The owl is inspired by the Pink Paislee papers we'll be using in class to create our albums!

Make It WOW Mini Album

My favorite of my 5 new classes (but I still have 1 to design, and it's using the Pink Paislee Vintage Moon, so it might end up being a tie!) In this class, we'll learn tips and techniques for taking flat stickers and making them WOW embellishments :D The blue dotted ribbon on the front is one of my all time favorite ribbons!

October already?

Woke up to 50 degrees this morning...a bit nippy, to be sure! In September, I'm usually a little blue, missing summer. But I enjoy October activities. I'm looking forward to hiking, camping, and a trip to the pumpkin patch this month, as well as my trip to Lasting Memories. Pictured above are just some more little peeks at projects.

Busy days

I've never liked that word "busy"...I think too many people use it as an excuse for not doing things they should - things they should make the time to do. So, I avoid it. But, then there are times when there is no other word to describe the constant flow of activity. That flow that threatens to overwhelm us...so, it's been day by day here, and, yes, busy. I didn't post, because I don't like posting without some sort of photo, and I was trying so hard to complete my 5 new classes, as well as keep up with things here at home. But, while playing with this little birdie yesterday, I was reminded that I do enjoy creating, and playing, and I wanted to share.

This little guy is part of a mini album project I'll be teaching at the Lasting Memories Retreat in Danbury, CT, on the 24th and 25th of October. I always have the BEST time with the girls there, and I don't expect any less this time around :D This little album turned out so very cute (probably because I was just playing), and I hope they enjoy it too. I loved working with this BasicGrey Offbeat collection - almost made me forget how anxious I am for their Urban Prairie collection to hit the stores! lol

I'm doing a fall/Halloween album next, and I'm excited to play with some Pink Paislee Vintage Moon. Got a big test tomorrow though (4 1/2 hours worth!) so it will have to wait a little longer.

So glad to have that behind me

The past 4 weeks have been a haze of math, math, and more math. I've been cramming for a big exam (PRAXIS II Math Content Knowledge) that I took today. THANK GOODNESS, it's over. I wish I could say I was as happy about how I did on the exam, but, alas, it was really, really tough. If I don't pass this first time, I can sit for it again in a few months.....I would rather just pass it this first time! lol

On the scrapping front, a little update from me - I'm thrilled to be teaching at the Lasting Memories Retreat in Danbury, CT, next month!! Julie and Barb and their wonderful customers are so much fun to hang out with. It's a weekend thing, and although I usually teach 4 or 5 classes, I have time leftover to eat, shop, and visit with everyone as they are cropping. Over the next 2 weeks I'll be designing all new classes, and the ideas are already bouncing around in my head! If you are in need of a weekend break, and would like to hang out and crop with us, I know you would have a good time! The website with details is www.lastingmemoriesscrapbook.com. I haven't sent my class info yet, but that will be posted on their blog (and mine) in a few days or so.

Book #2 is in progress, although I had to take a short break from creating artwork in order to study for the exam. Greta Hammond, my co-author, and I, are excited about how it's going so far, and I'll be back to work on it as soon as I finish up these new classes.

Chatterbox lovelies

Do you love pink? :D I recently worked with some of the new Chatterbox product (pink Artsylicious and Happy Day lines) in pink, pink, and more pink! Of course, I fell in love with the polka dotted pattern, and I enjoyed tucking it here and there :D

Oh me, one month?!

I didn't realize it had been so long since I'd updated the blog. I was caught up in working on the new book, editing the first book, and having some fun with the girls before school started back. Also, preparing for some changes here at home that require more of my time right now.
This past weekend, I scrapped with friends, and managed to laugh and eat a lot, AND get some scrapbook pages done :) Always a blessing to spend time with old friends.

I don't like posting without a photo, so here is a 35 lb. catfish that my brother caught this summer!

K&Co Cut & Paste (and more Valentine)

The Cut & Paste line was my favorite of the new lines! Please excuse the rather flat, dull look of these cards. I was working with mockups, and the "real thing" papers, stickers, and embellishments are much richer and textured. Those numbers on the second card will be brads - I can think of all kinds of uses for those. I can't wait to get the real stuff!

K&Company Valentine sneaks

I found a few photos online of K&Company's new releases, so I thought it would be okay to show you a few things I made for the show. This Valentine line was so fun! Once I got started, I couldn't stop. Pink, pink, and more pink!

love, love this!

KI Bloom! I've always loved KI. You just can't beat it for all-around versatility and fun. I've got a stash dating back to the very first KI release ;) But, I don't hoard it, no way - I LOVE scrapbooking with it! I love that it is double-sided, and on most of these pics, I prefer the side not shown as much. Very subtle patterns, and PERFECT colors for me.

See more of it and shop here at my favorite online store - Scrapsupply.com. www.scrapsupply.com/shopping/index.php?mainpage=advanced_search_result&search_in_description=1&keyword= KI+Bloom

Now, what could they have up their sleeves for the upcoming summer release?! Can't wait to see!

it's that time of year

When all the scrapbooking companies give us peeks of their fall releases :D Since I won't be at the show, I eagerly await these glimpses of new stuff.
Scenic Route has a birthday line called Surprise, pictured above. But, it's just a mini line, and I can't wait for the 2 big lines!
